Restaurant La Demi-Lune

 
 

La Demi-Lune is the first organic food restaurant in Dunkirk.

It’s a peaceful restaurant where you can enjoy a quiet lunch in the heart of the town surrounded by greenery and sixty year old trees of the Sainte-Barbe Residence; a building dating from the post-war rebuilding of Dunkirk. Light is gorgeous in sunny weather conditions, and the fresh colours of the restaurant are enhanced when the weather is overcast.

Eating organic food is a choice which we wish to share with you.

By eating organic food on a daily basis we can ensure that our food intake is controlled, we are taking care of our health, our children's health and making an impact on the environmental harmony of our planet.

But in order to do this, a restaurant also needs to opt for environmentally-friendly options in terms of its decoration, such as its choice of paint or lighting fixtures, (opting for low consumption LEDs, for example).

We have also chosen to compost peelings and other vegetable refuse, which not only avoids household waste collection, but enables us to recycle the compost, using it directly for plants.

Thanks to its production methods, organic farming is a source of well-being for mankind and the environment, since organic farming avoids using harmful products which affect both production workers as well as consumers. Our wish is for regional agriculture to generate a demand for organic products to allow the Nord- Pas de Calais region to become the first organic region in Europe.

Our goal is to allow you to enjoy the benefits of organic farming, yet remain amongst the most reasonably priced restaurants on the coast.

On your plate you will find a good variety of fresh vegetables from our regional and local producers, fish (from sustainable sources) or even meat, if you wish.
